Our Core Beliefs

Faithful to Scripture, Focused on Christ

New Hope proclaims and rejoices in the Doctrines of Sovereign Grace in the tradition of historic Christianity. New Hope Baptist Church is a Reformed Baptist Church which gladly holds to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith and which is striving, by God’s grace, to worship, walk, and witness in a manner which pleases our Lord. We are a Christ-centered Church that is eager to exalt His Name in all that we do!

Our Doctrinal Beliefs

Our mission is to worship, walk obediently, and witness for Christ’s glory. We uphold God’s sovereignty, Scripture’s authority, believer’s baptism, and Reformation principles, with resources linked to the 1689 Confession.

At our church, we stand on Scripture’s foundational truths, believing in God’s sovereignty, the grace of Christ, and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Our commitment to biblical teaching fosters a nurturing community devoted to loving God and serving each other.

Salvation

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is the divinely appointed mediator between God and man. Having taken upon Himself human nature, yet without sin, He perfectly fulfilled the Law, suffered and died upon the cross for the salvation of sinners. He was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended to His Father, at whose hand He ever liveth to make intercession for His people. He is the only Mediator, the Prophet, Priest and King of the Church, and Sovereign of the Universe.

Faith

Saving faith is the belief, on God's authority, of whatsoever is revealed in His Word concerning Christ; accepting and resting upon Him alone for justification and eternal life. It is wrought in the heart by the Holy Spirit, and is accompanied by all other saving graces, and leads to a life of holiness.

Regeneration

Regeneration is a change of heart, wrought by the Holy Spirit, who quickeneth the dead in trespasses and sins enlightening their minds spiritually and savingly to understand the Word of God, and renewing their whole nature, so that they love and practice holiness. It is a work of God's free and special grace alone.

What is a Reformed Baptist?

In this message, Pastor Savastio of the Reformed Baptist Church of Louisville, KY, highlights numerous key distinctives of Reformed Baptist churches over against broad evangelicalism.

The Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation

The Five Solas are five Latin phrases that highlight the main beliefs of the Protestant Reformation. They stress that we receive salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as shown in Scripture alone, and for the glory of God alone. These key ideas set Protestant beliefs apart from other Christian traditions, affirming that salvation is a gift from God and the Bible is the highest authority for Christian faith and practice.

The 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith

We hold to the 1689 Confession, the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith, an influential statement by Calvinistic Baptists, originally published anonymously in 1677 and revised with authors' names in 1689.

The Heidelberg Catechism

The Heidelberg Confession is based on the Heidelberg Catechism, an important and cherished document of the Reformed Protestant faith. Written in 1563, it presents Christian beliefs in a simple question-and-answer style.

The Baptist or Keach’s Catechism

The Baptist Catechism, or Keach's Catechism, is a 17th-century tool for teaching Christian doctrine from a Particular Baptist perspective. Compiled by William Collins, it outlines essential beliefs about God, salvation, and moral law for instruction.
